Overview

One of the famous Maroon Bells, this peak is both incredibly beautiful and dangerously loose. The sedimentary rock (Maroon Formation) is notoriously unstable. The south ridge route is Class 3 with objective hazards from rockfall. More people have died on the Bells than any other Colorado 14ers.
