Same as Castle Peak - dispersed camping and pullouts along FR 102. Creek crossing at 1.3 miles. 4WD recommended beyond 1.25 miles.
Route Description
Most commonly climbed as an extension from Castle Peak. From Castle's summit, descend the south ridge and follow the connecting ridge to Conundrum. The traverse is Class 2 with moderate exposure. The Conundrum Hot Springs make a tempting side trip.
Gear & Preparation
The Castle-Conundrum traverse adds about an hour to the Castle climb. Permits required for overnight camping at Conundrum Hot Springs. The hot springs are popular - expect crowds.
